One short test stands between you and the driver's seat
Learn everything the NYS learner's permit test asks in five focused days: one quick lesson and one quiz per day, finished with a full practice run. Then take the real thing once, pass it once, and get on the road.
Why do so many people fail a 20-question test?
Because it looks easy, so almost nobody actually prepares for it.
Here's what the test really is: 20 questions pulled from a driver's manual more than 100 pages long, and nobody tells you which 20. You can only miss 6. And buried in the rules is the detail that catches people out: four of the questions are about road signs, and you must get at least two of those right, no matter how well you do on the rest.
So the night-before manual skim leaves huge gaps. Random free online quizzes teach you the answers without the why, and the real test never asks a question in quite the same way twice.
Passing the first time isn't about being a natural behind the wheel. It's about knowing what New York asks before New York asks it. That takes five days, not five weeks, if you do it properly.
Five days. One pass. Start driving.
The NYS Learner's Permit Prep Course takes everything the test draws from and packs it into a plan you can actually finish: a short video lesson each day, a 10-question quiz to lock it in, and a full-length practice test at the end that tells you, before you ever book the DMV, that you're ready.
It's built the way the test is built, so nothing on test day comes as a surprise.

Know the Test
The course opens by pulling the test apart: how many questions, how the scoring works, the road sign rule, and the handful of places where most people lose their marks.
It takes minutes, and from that point on, you're not studying a mystery. You're working through a checklist.
DAY 1
Signs, Shapes & Colors
Could you tell what a sign means before you're close enough to read it? After Day 1, you can.
Every shape has one job. Every color carries a message. Once you know the system, you can decode signs you've never seen before, which is exactly what the test's road sign questions (the ones with their own pass rule) are checking.
DAY 2
Signals, Lines & Who Goes First
Green arrows, flashing reds, yellow lines, white lines, four cars at an intersection with no signs. Who moves first?
Day 2 turns all of it into a handful of rules you can apply anywhere, and covers the required stops New York is famous for testing, school buses included.
DAY 3
Speed, Stopping & Staying Out of Trouble
This is the section where "sounds about right" fails people. The questions feel like common sense, but the test wants exact rules: the real speed limit when conditions change, how far your car actually travels before it stops, and what to do the moment a skid starts.
Day 3 replaces guesswork with the numbers and habits the test rewards.
DAY 4
Passing, Parking & Sharing the Road
When can you pass? When can you never? How much space does a cyclist get, and how close to a hydrant is too close?
New York expects exact distances, and Day 4 drills them until they're automatic, along with the rules for motorcycles, trucks, and the Move Over law.
DAY 5
The Law, the Limits & Your Game Plan
The last lesson tackles the heaviest memorization on the test: what alcohol does to a driver, the exact legal numbers, the consent law every new driver agrees to, and the points system.
Then you get a test-day game plan, so the only new thing at the DMV is the good news at the end.
YOUR TOOLKIT
The Student Workbook
Alongside the lessons, the printable Student Workbook keeps everything in one place: key notes for each day, a workbook that has you write the rules in your own words (the fastest way to make them stick), and a one-page cheat sheet built for a final flick-through the night before.
TEST WHAT YOU'VE LEARNT
The Full-Length Practice Test
After Day 5, you sit the whole thing under real conditions: a complete practice test in the same format as the actual exam.
Score it with the answer key, patch anything that slipped, and book your DMV visit already knowing how it ends. All up, the course puts 70 practice questions in front of you and explains every single one.
What "ready" looks like:
- You can read any road sign from shape and color alone
- Right-of-way, required stops, and New York's exact distances are automatic
- The trickiest law and alcohol questions hold no surprises
- You've answered 70 practice questions and understood every one
- You've passed a full-length practice test before booking the real thing
- The DMV visit is a formality, not a gamble
The NYS Learner's Permit Prep Course is for you if you're:
- Turning 16 (or already there) and ready for your first permit
- An adult who is finally getting licensed, or who has newly arrived in New York
- Someone who opened the driver's manual once and closed it again
- A retaker who wants the next attempt to be the last one
- A parent who'd rather hand over a five-day plan than nag a teen through 100 pages
If any of those fit, this course was built for you.
Everything you need. One small price.
The complete five-day course:
- Five daily video lessons covering everything the test draws from
- The Student Workbook: key notes, Prep Journal, and cheat sheet
- Five daily quizzes with answer keys that explain every wrong option
- A full-length practice test in the real exam format
- 70 printable practice questions in total
